B. NLN will influence the future direction of nursing education through the promotion support and dissemination of Priorities for Research in Nursing Education and of educational research findings C. The NLN will initiate, facilitate, and coordinate nursing education research that has broad-based applicability. D. The NLN will take the lead in refining a taxonomy and standard nomenclature related to nursing education and nursing education research. Goal IV: Data Collection The NLN will be the authority in providing and interpreting data about the nursing workforce supply and the nurse educator workforce. Objectives A. NLN data about the nursing workforce supply and the nurse educator workforce will be key to decision making at institutional and national levels. B. The NLN will build an electronic knowledge repository of workforce supply data that is accessible to multiple users. C. NLN surveys about nursing programs, curricula, students, and faculty will inform and shape the future of nursing education. Goal V: Assessment and Evaluation The NLN will develop and provide comprehensive services to the nursing community that evaluate and assess educational outcomes and practice competencies for quality nursing care. Objectives A. The NLN will ensure that its comprehensive assessment services meet the needs of the changing education and practice environments. B. Faculty and leaders in nursing education will provide input on assessment issues and position statements relevant to these issues. C. The NLN will systematically assess product line opportunities ensuring growth, diversification, and profitability. D. The NLN will structure the A & E Business Unit to assure an efficient, effective and customer responsive operation. E. The NLN will increase testing market share in educational and healthcare delivery settings. Goal VI: Public Policy The NLN will advocate in the public policy arena for all types of academic and lifelong learning programs in nursing.
