2002 - and Beyond - Meeting the challenges of bridging the gap between nursing education and practice in the new millennium, the NLN sets in motion a Strategic Plan. The Plan specifies five bold Goals, reaffirms the commitment to all types of nursing education and embraces the global nursing education community. National League for Nursing The Future - Our Vision We have a clear vision of the NLN in the year 2018 (our 125th anniversary) as a relevant, viable organization with an unbroken record of leadership in nursing education. The NLN Mission - Our Purpose The National League for Nursing advances excellence in nursing education that prepares the nursing workforce to meet the needs of diverse populations in an ever-changing healthcare environment. National League for Nursing Goals - Our Ends Goal I: Nursing Education The NLN will lead in setting standards that advance excellence and innovation in nursing education. Objectives A. Hallmarks of excellence promulgated by the NLN will be used to guide innovation and continuous quality improvement in nursing education. B. The NLN will serve as a leader in fostering innovation in the design and implementation of nursing education programs. Goal II: Faculty Development The NLN will lead in promoting the professional growth and continuous quality improvement of faculty and nursing education leaders who prepare the global nursing workforce. Objectives A. The NLN will be the leading provider of products and services, nationally and internationally, for the continuous development of full-time and part-time faculty and nursing education leaders. B. The NLN will support mechanisms that create and sustain a valued global community of nurse educators. C. NLN will take a leadership role in helping institutions create environments that are supportive of nurse educators who function in full-time or part-time roles in their pursuit of excellence and innovation in teaching.
