Please be sure to file to take your exam in plenty of time so that you will receive the information needed for the actual test taking. On the day of the test, a thumbprint will be needed and a photo will be taken. This photo will appear only on the document that you receive in the mail with regards as to whether you passed or not. This photo will not be on your actual nursing license. Your nursing license will be a 3 by 5 piece of paper that will: 1) consist of your name. 2) your nursing license number and 3) the date received and renewal date of your nursing license. I don't know what I was expecting but for all the hardship I had, for some reason, I was expecting a gold plaque or something.
That being said, let us get back to the actual test taking center. Please do not bring any valuables with you because you will NOT be allowed to take anything in the actual room where you are taking the test. Please also be aware and advised that you will be video and audio taped during the time you are taking your test. This sounds more threatening then it really is. They do strive to make your test taking experence as "pleasant" as possible. If indeed, that is possible at all. After an allotted period of time, the computer will shut off saying it is time for a 10 minute break, please be sure to be back on time. Because after 10 minutes the computer will begin keeping track of your time again and please do remember that this is a timed exam. 5 hours sounds like a lot of time, but it really is not under these circumstances where every minute may count!
Once you are finished taking the exam. You will not be able to find out your test results immediately. Yes, they do have them in front of them, but you will not be advised of your status at this time. I have received several emails with regard to a site on the computer that you can find out your result within 24 hours? I have checked this out, I do not find this to be the case. According to the National Council of State Boards of Nursing, no, I am sorry. You CANNOT find out your test results online. So, just how long does it take for one to get their results? This differs tremendously and the reasoning is unknown to me but I have had friends that have gotten their results in 5 days and I myself personally, it took 4 weeks. So, in my experience, you should receive your results in a range from 5 days to 4 weeks. On average, I really would say 1 to 2 weeks.
