Become a TOEFL Score User

As your institution seeks to grow, the new TOEFL? Internet-based test (iBT) can give you the advantage in attracting and selecting those international students with the communication skills needed to succeed.

Whether or not you currently accept TOEFL scores, you will benefit by joining our official recognition list.

*       Join 6,000 institutions in 110 countries, including most top-tier universities, that use official TOEFL scores for admissions, placement, or graduation purposes

*       Receive official, secure score reports from ETS (rather than student copies)

*       Be on the list that students use when they choose where to send their four free score reports

*       Receive updates from ETS

To begin receiving TOEFL scores, please complete the online Institution Recognition Form or download the PDF version.

Your institution will receive a Designated Institution (DI) code from ETS. Be sure to post your code on your institution's Web site so your applicants can use it when they register for the TOEFL test, and you can receive their official score reports.

Materials for Decision Makers

The following materials can help institutions decide whether to accept the TOEFL test:

*       TOEFL Recognition Brochure (PDF)

*       Institution Recognition Form

*       Online Form

*       Download PDF

*       List of institutions (PDF) that accept TOEFL scores

Questions? E-mail us at internationaldevelopment@ets.org for more information on how to become a TOEFL score user, or to receive a TOEFL Recognition Packet with the materials listed above. Packets will be mailed within five business days.

Materials for Score Users

If you are already a TOEFL score user, increase your visibility by having a link to your Web site posted on the TOEFL Web site, which has more than 650,000 visitors each month. See our Increase Your Visibility (PDF) brochure to find out more.

View TOEFL iBT Scores Online

ETS will be introducing a new service that will allow official TOEFL score users to view TOEFL iBT scores online in the near future. Information will be posted on the TOEFL Home page as soon as this service is available.

This new service is free and will enable TOEFL Designated Institutions (DIs) to view applicants' TOEFL iBT scores online. It is designed to make your job easier by allowing you to:

*       Search by name, date of birth, test date, native language and country

*       View applicants' TOEFL iBT scores, including photo for up to two years after a test administration date

To use this service, an institution must be a TOEFL DI and have a DI code. If you do not have a DI code, you can sign up for free at www.ets.org/toefl/direct.
